micare Soap Flakes – Traditional Danish Quality

Contains: 2 × 500 ml

Soap flakes are ideal for both cleaning and treating wooden and tiled floors. Used for generations as a traditional Danish cleaning method, they are especially valued for their ability to preserve the natural beauty of wood for years.

Soap flakes gently clean wooden floors, leaving them fresh and well-maintained. They are also perfect for soap treatment of lye-treated floors and wooden furniture, creating a protective and elegant patina. Suitable for a wide range of surfaces — including untreated and lacquered wood, tile, stone, terrazzo, and linoleum — they are a versatile, eco-friendly cleaning choice.

Our soap flakes are manufactured in Denmark following a traditional Danish recipe. We take pride in their bright white quality, perfect flake size, and optimal fat content of 80%, ensuring top performance and protection. Made from palm oil and coconut oil, they contain no perfume, preservatives, or optical brighteners.

Quality tip: When dissolved in boiled (then cooled) water, high-quality flakes will leave the water clear or slightly milky. If the water turns gray, the quality is poor and may cause wooden surfaces to gray as well.

How to Soap-Treat Wooden Floors

You’ll need:

  • 10 L floor bucket
  • Floor cloth
  • micare soap flakes
  • Floor scrubber
  • Abrasive pad, grain 180 (for stubborn stains)

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve 20 g of soap flakes per 1 L of hand-warm water. (Use boiled water cooled to hand temperature before adding the flakes.)
  2. Wash the floor thoroughly in the direction of the wood grain using the lukewarm soapy water.
  3. Rinse with a hard-wrung cloth and cold clean water to remove any excess soap and preserve the protective fat layer.
  4. Allow the floor to dry completely before walking on it.
How to Soap-Treat Natural Stone and Tiled Floors

You’ll need:

  • 10 L floor bucket
  • Cotton floor cloth
  • micare soap flakes
  • Floor scrubber
  • Optional: Scrubbing brush for grout

Instructions:

  1. Dissolve 10 g of soap flakes per 1 L of hand-warm water (about ¼ cup).
  2. Use pre-boiled water cooled to hand temperature and whisk until fully dissolved.
  3. Wash the floor with a soaked cotton cloth, changing the water as needed.
  4. Let the floor dry completely before use.
Why Use Soap Flakes for Tile and Stone?

Soap flakes are mild and natural, containing no harsh chemicals that can damage surfaces or remove their natural shine. Made from pure natural fats, they are more environmentally friendly than many commercial cleaners.

When used on tiled floors, soap flakes leave a light protective film that helps repel dirt and stains. The mild soap residue also conditions and protects grout, preventing it from drying out and making it easier to keep clean.

Important Tips
  • Stone surfaces: Whisk thoroughly to prevent residue.
  • Safety: Soap flakes can make surfaces slippery — especially in bathrooms. Rinse off excess soap carefully.
  • Wood treatment: Always test on a small area before treating older wood. Avoid use on veneered surfaces, as the glue may dissolve.
  • For lye-treated floors: Add a teaspoon of titanium white or a little pipe clay to the soapy water to brighten and maintain the finish.
